❦ Why I think you should have a website
Talk about why *I* think you should have your own website:
* your new tab page is boring, customize it with your very own website
* if you go to websites and have bookmarks, make that more convenient, AND comfortable
* have a cozy space for yourself, with maybe a guestbook for an internet wanderer to pop in and say hi - maybe they'll become your friend too, but either way the connection is nice
* censorship - and you sometimes don't even know it's happening. I'm not even talking about just expressing your beliefs and such; if you link to things, many websites and social media will censor or suppress you so that they can keep people on their site for longer
* literally if you see anything cool on any of the websites I link to here and want to do something similar, gues what? you can!
* notes or thoughts on literally anything you care about
* convenient for sharing things with friends
* making a website is a form of art, and one you get to interact with and use to make things convenient in your life
* It's slow work making a website, but it grows and grows and eventually, one day, all you'll have for yourself are the things you've built for yourself (the relationships you've nurtured and built with people, the art or software or whatever you make, etc.); if you're on the web a lot, as many of us are, why not build something for yourself here?
* Literally your own corner of the internet, maybe it's just me, but that's fucking cool; anyone who types your url into their computer, anyone in the entire world anywhere, they'll see everything you've built.
* If you have some friends, and you can get them to have websites too, y'all can have a little web neighborhood - how fucking awesome is that? And if you can get them to do that, then you'll get to see whole other sides to them. Think of your friends, right now; think of all of the things you appreciate most about them, and now imagine a website that they build with their two hands that personifies that. Now realize, whatever you imagined, will be a shoddy imagining of whatever they could do, because you're not them, so no way could you imagine a website of them personified as well as they could actually make it
* "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." - The Lorax
I think you should have a website because I think you have a reason to have one. One that I don't know, but you do, even if it's a bit hard to find. I think you have things to say, and that you deserve a space on the internet that is your own.
talk abt sharing links on your personal website too
