Note:
An important thing to note as you read writing by trans people from the websites linked here is that trans people are not a monolith. What is meant by this is that not every trans person has the same views on even basic things like what it means to be trans or what gender is or if gender even exists. You will probably see what I mean to at least some extent if you read just a few of the different blog posts or articles written by trans people linked here.

It is a misconception to think that trans people are a monolith, and is dangerous because it goes hand in hand with the view that being trans is an ideology (this is why the term "transgenderism" will throw up some red flags for many people) that can be refuted (in one fell swoop). No, trans people are just a group of people who identify with the term for whatever reason, like more generally people who would describe themselves as men or women (and for example if you ask a cis person what makes them a man or a woman, no matter your thoughts on their answers, there will be different ones for different people).
